Important Safety Warning
The Australian made AOK mediBall Pro is the product of extensive development by AOK Health and rigorous testing at the University of Newcastle's Materials Testing Laboratory.
Now rated as the safest and strongest ball in the world because of its high quality and safety requirements, renowned authority on Swiss Ball training, Paul Chek, has selected AOKs mediBall Pro for his DuraBall Pro range in the USA.
Specially designed apparatus at the University of Newcastle has shown mediBall Pro to have a significant margin of safety. mediBall Pro, even when loaded to 500kg will not burst if punctured, but simply deflate slowly. Since many cheaper Swiss balls have been sold prior to mediBall Pro, some people have said to us: I've used the cheap Swiss balls and never seen one burst. What's wrong with the cheaper ball I have been using?" If the ball doesn't burst, probably not much! Its deflection and resistance to stretching under load may not be ideal or its durability may be less. But when a cheap Swiss ball explodes, it does so very dramatically, much like a toy balloon. |

OK, from our experience the percentage is mercifully small. But consider risking the odds with a cheap ball? Only last year a leading National Rugby League player fractured his scaphoid bone when one burst underneath him. This caused him severe pain and interrupted his professional career! A quality antiburst ball could have prevented this. The risk can vary, but consider what can happen if you fall suddenly and unexpectedly from 50-60 cm and hit the ground.
Since pioneering the manufacture of antiburst balls in Australia, we have learned much about engineering and quality assurance. In fact, we are most likely the leaders in ANTIBURST and light duty ball technology. So......
Here's what we recommend:
- If the user is fit and active, with a nervous system like a cat, they could use a light ball for simple exercises.
- If the user has a pre-existing condition that would indicate caution, always recommend a mediBall Pro. This includes those with spinal conditions, pregnant women, the elderly, young children and head injury patients.
- Any professional, gyms, physios, sports teams. These should use mediBall Pro for the safety factor alone.
- When training with weights only use an anti burst ball, preferably mediBall Pro.
- Use only mediBall Pro as a chair.
Not all balls are created equal!
The simple claim that a ball is antiburst or burst- resistant, doesn't guarantee safety. Only mediBall Pro has an antiburst rating established by University testing and stamped on each ball. If you are offered a Taiwanese, Italian, German or USA import claimed as antiburst, ask for proof! Through reliable sources we know that some imports have a rating of just 70kg, the weight of a medium sized woman! In contrast, the NEW mediBall Pro is rated at 500 kg antiburst with a total load rating of 1000kg.
When you run the risk of injuring yourself, is saving a few dollars really worth it? We don't think so and neither should you!
